Dale's Fire Page

I am a Firefighter / Paramedic for the City of Clearwater Fire Department. We are a full service department which includes ALS "rescue" services, technical rescue, SWAT team and a cool marine response team of 2 wave runners, boats and 4 wheel ATV's. Our union is IAFF Local 1158. We operate out of 6 stations and run about 25,000 calls per year. 80% of these are EMS related.

I "borrowed" this heat index calculator from the Dept. of Forestry. It's amazing what the humidity can do here in Florida. Imagine a heat index of 130 degrees with full bunkergear on.

Wanna be a fireman?

Go to this site for training centers in your state. You might have to write the Sate fire marshall for local schools. I know there are 3 simultaneous classes held at HCC every 6 months. That's a lot of students (And that's only one county!). So...The job market is totally flooded here in FL. Good luck!
